COBRA – WE-ARE-THE-CHAMPION ( 夜のヒットスタジオ – Hit Studio at Night)

Description

COBRA is a Japanese Oi ! Punk Rock band .

History

Formed in 1982 in Amagasaki City , Hyogo Prefecture with junior high school classmates YOSU-KO (vocals), NAOKI (guitar), and MI-CHANG (drums).

In 1984, LARRY (guitar) joined the current GARLIC BOYS . NAOKI who left the group joined LAUGHIN’ NOSE .

In 1985, the album ” STAND THE PRESSURE ” was released from AA Records.

In 1987 , they made their major debut with Tokuma Japan , but stopped their activities in the same year.

NAOKI, who left LAUGHIN’ NOSE in 1990 , made his major debut again with Pony Canyon with PON and performed at Budokan, but stopped his activities in 1991 . YOSU-KO and PON formed a house unit and performed their first live under the name KAMIKAZE, then became active as a major group as COW COW . NAOKI and KI-YAN newly formed DOG FIGHT .

In 1999 , the original guitarist NAOKI was re-joined as a member, and YOSU-KO became the bass vocalist and COBRA was re-formed as a three-piece. They started working with Toshiba EMI , but in 2001, all members except YOSU-KO left the group. Although he continued to be active in the indies, he went on hiatus again in 2005 .

In 2007 , they resumed their activities with a new lineup, and performed at Fuji Rock and toured Europe, but due to poor health of YOSU-KO, their activities were suspended again at the end of 2012 . With this, Base member YUICHI left the band. Immediately after, on January 1, 2013, they released the planned single “THE BEGINNING OF THE END ep”, and this work is the last work released at this time.

In 2015 , they resumed their activities with former member PON (currently LAUGHIN’ NOSE ) as their base. However, the day before the 2016 live in Nagoya, YO-SUKO suddenly stopped participating, and the next day’s PUNK LIVES 2016 was once again a hiatus. For the live performances on both days, bass player PON was in charge of vocals for all songs. Since then, he has not resumed his activities, and no works were released during this period of activity.

Also, “Ano Musume wa Alien”, which is included in “Oi Oi Oi”, is a cheering song for Tokyo Verdy . The title is also “COBRA”. In addition to these, various songs have been adopted as supporter songs by supporters of many J League clubs.
