Confessions II (also referred to as Confessions on a Dance Floor: Part II) is the upcoming fifteenth studio album by American singer Madonna. It is scheduled to be released on July 3, 2026, through Warner Records, seven years after her last album, marking the longest gap between Madonna albums. Conceived as a sequel to Confessions on a Dance Floor (2005), the album continues Madonna’s exploration of dance and electronic music. She reunited with producer Stuart Price, who co-wrote and co-produced the original album. Confessions II was preceded by two singles, “Bring Your Love“, in collaboration with Sabrina Carpenter, and “Love Sensation“. An accompanying musical film, Confessions II – The Film, premiered on June 5, 2026.
Development
In a 2022 YouTube video, Madonna mentioned wanting to revisit house music.[1][2] During September 2024, the singer revealed she was working on new music with Stuart Price.[3][4] The following February, Madonna confirmed that her new music would be a follow-up to her 2005 album Confessions on a Dance Floor, also produced by Price.[5] In September 2025, Madonna announced a reunion with her original record label of over 25 years, Warner Records, with the Confessions on a Dance Floor sequel slated for release in 2026.[6][7] On Instagram, she wrote: “Almost 2 decades later – And it Feels like home with Warner Records! Back to music, Back to the Dance Floor, Back to where it all began! COADF- P. 2, 2026”.[a] Warner executives Tom Corson and Aaron Bay-Schuck congratulated her return, describing Madonna as a cultural innovator and characterizing the signing as a significant moment in reaffirming her legacy.[13]
Writing and recording
We must dance, celebrate, and pray with our bodies. These are things that we’ve been doing for thousands of years — they really are spiritual practices. After all, the dance floor is a ritualistic space. It’s a place where you connect — with your wounds, with your fragility. To rave is an art. It’s about pushing your limits and connecting to a community of like-minded people. Sound, light, and vibration/ Reshape our perceptions/ Pulling us into a trance-like state. The repetition of the bass, we don’t just hear it but we feel it. Altering our consciousness and dissolving ego and time.
Madonna revealed that she decided to make a dance album as a “distraction from waiting for films and series projects she was working on to materialise.”[15] In October 2024, she confirmed on Instagram that she was recording new music in London with Stuart Price.[4] She described the creative process as “medicine for my soul” and said that songwriting allows for full artistic freedom without having to “ask anyone for their permission”.[16] Madonna continued to document the recording sessions on social media, posting pictures in the studio with Price throughout 2025.[17] In June 2026, Martin Garrix confirmed he had collaborated with Madonna on “Bizarre” and played it during his show in New York City.[18]
Artwork and packaging
The album’s visuals, including the cover and lead imagery, were photographed by Rafael Pavarotti.[19] New York City-based studio Special Offer, Inc. designed Confessions II‘s artwork and packaging.[20] It uses a bright pink, red, and purple color scheme to echo the Confessions on a Dance Floor album art.[20] The digital and deluxe edition employs an “editorial look”, with “Madonna” and “Confessions II” written in Helvetica.[20] On the cover, Madonna is perched on a platform of speakers in a lavender lace bodysuit and matching fishnet stockings with a contrasting pink veil over her head.[21]

Confessions II is described as a “continuation” of 2005’s Confessions on a Dance Floor.[22] The album will be released as a non-stop mix, echoing the 2005 release.[23]
“I Feel So Free” is a deep house song “with Madonna uttering a soliloquy over the top”.[24] It interpolates the acid house song “French Kiss” (1989) by Lil Louis,[25] and received comparisons to Madonna’s 2005 song “Future Lovers” and Giorgio Moroder‘s work for Donna Summer.[23][26] “Bring Your Love” features Sabrina Carpenter and has a “house-pop vibe”.[27] It samples Inner City‘s 1988 song “Good Life“.[28] “Love Sensation” is a house song with “pulsating electronica”.[29][30]
“Fragile” and “Forgive Yourself” are about Madonna’s relationship with her estranged late brother Christopher Ciccone,[31][32] who died in October 2024.[33] On “Forgive Yourself”, Madonna sings “if you can’t forgive me, forgive yourself”. She explained, “We have to forgive others but we also have to forgive ourselves and stop beating up on ourselves about things, choices we’ve made in the past that haven’t worked out for ourselves or other people”.[32] She co-wrote “The Test” with her daughter, Lourdes Leon, describing it as a “healing moment” between them.[15]
Release and promotion
Madonna began publicly discussing a Confessions on a Dance Floor sequel for release in 2025.[34][17] Throughout 2025, she continued teasing the album’s release on Instagram, referring to it as Confessions on a Dance Floor Part 2, Confessions Part Deux, and Confessions Part 2.[b] She posted numerous throwbacks to the original Confessions era and wore archival looks from the album’s promotion.[36][37] Additionally, in advance of the sequel album, Madonna released a twentieth anniversary edition of Confessions on a Dance Floor on streaming and digital retailers, a first-ever vinyl pressing, and a Record Store Day vinyl release of 2006’s The Confessions Tour.[38][39] In September 2025, Madonna made a podcast interview on an episode of On Purpose with Jay Shetty.[40] During the interview, she revealed the titles of two songs from the album: “Fragile” and “Forgive Yourself”.[32] Various publications listed the Confessions sequel among their most anticipated albums of 2026, including Clash,[41] Esquire,[42] The Fader,[43] Rolling Stone,[44] and Variety.[45]
On April 14, 2026, Madonna cleared her Instagram profile and uploaded a blurred profile picture.[46] Her website was updated to display a series of designs including the text “Confessions on a Dance Floor”, “Confessions II”, and “COADF2” in all-caps, sans-serif typefaces, followed by a static image of a silver speaker in between Madonna’s legs soundtracked by ambient music.[20][47][48] In the photo, she is wearing a “glittery update” to custom-made lace-up Yves Saint Laurent boots from the first Confessions era.[49] The following day, Madonna officially announced Confessions II on Instagram.[50] Simultaneously, its preorder started, including CD, vinyl and cassette,[51] and wheatpaste posters appeared in major cities.[20]
On April 24, 2026, Madonna’s partnership with geosocial networking app Grindr to promote the album campaign was revealed. Alongside releasing an exclusive picture disc vinyl, the campaign will introduce exclusive behind the scene content.[52] The following day, she and Price hosted a private Club Confessions party at The Abbey in West Hollywood, California, previewing two songs from the album.[53] Starting on May 1, the album’s commercial starring Madonna and Anna Wintour, filmed during the Dolce & Gabbana fashion show in Milan, was shown in selected theaters ahead of The Devil Wears Prada 2.[54] On May 14, 2026, the standard track list for the album had appeared on posters in major global cities, containing 12 tracks.[55] On May 27, 2026, Madonna announced a partnership with Bilt Rewards, including exclusive limited-edition vinyl version of the album and member-exclusive release night parties.[56] On June 26, 2026, BBC One is set to air the television special Madonna & Graham, in which Madonna was interviewed by Graham Norton at the Koko in London.[57]
Singles and promotional singles
Madonna previewed the opening track “I Feel So Free” in a 60-second video alongside the album’s announcement.[58] The full song premiered on iHeartRadio‘s Pride Radio on April 17, 2026, and subsequently was released on all streaming and digital download platforms the following day.[23][59] “Bring Your Love” with Carpenter was released as the album’s lead single on April 30, 2026.[60] The song was serviced to hot adult contemporary radio on May 4, and contemporary hit radio the following day.[61] The accompanying music video premiered on June 15, 2026.[62] The second single, “Love Sensation” was released on June 4, 2026.[29][63]
Live performances
On April 17, 2026, Madonna joined American singer Sabrina Carpenter on the main stage at Coachella 2026 as a surprise guest, where they performed a new song, “Bring Your Love”, along with “Vogue” and “Like a Prayer“.[64] On June 4, 2026, she played a surprise, free Pride Month concert at The Square in Times Square, produced and live streamed by Grindr. She performed “I Feel So Free”, “Bring Your Love” and “Love Sensation”, along with three Confessions on a Dance Floor songs.[65] On June 13, 2026, Dutch DJ and music producer Martin Garrix debuted the song “Bizarre” during his performance at Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York.[66]
Accompanying film
The album’s accompanying musical film, Confessions II – The Film (2026), built around the first six songs, was directed by TORSO (David Toro and Solomon Chase). It stars Madonna, with appearances by Arca, Archie Madekwe, Benedict Cumberbatch, Carpenter, Cole Palmer, Debi Mazar, Gwendoline Christie, Honey Dijon, Feid, João Pedro, Julia Garner, Kate Moss, Odessa A’zion, Richard E. Grant, Shygirl, and Lourdes Leon.[67] The film premiered on June 5, 2026, at the Beacon Theatre in New York City, during the Tribeca Festival, followed by Madonna’s conversation with Anderson Cooper.[68] It was released on YouTube on June 8, 2026.[69]
